More tours of Rome.

In the last two days i've spent around 11 hours walking around Rome and all its piazzi. Firstly yesterday after school we all caught the bus in so they could show me the main shopping strip of Rome, though we also visited the Pantheon and about 5 other squares around the city. Today Maria, Massimo and Caterina spent 7 hours showing me everywhere from the Colluseum to the ancient ruins and all the different piazzi in between. One of my favourite places was a sort of park thing that has ruins of ancient buildings and is sectioned off from the rest of the city, but the main attraction were all the stray cats that live there, which is apparently over 350 all up. What's even more awesome is that cats are so protected here and part of this place was called the Cat Sanctuary.

Also, last night Martina, Caterina's friend, invited us all over for dinner and to teach me how to make traditional Italian pizza. Dinner consisted of us comparing the Italian Harry Potter with the English one and most of the girls laughing histerically at all the british names. Afterwards they insisted that we watched Harry Potter in english so they could hear what it was like first-hand. The thing that always catches me off-guard and that i can't help but laugh at is when they sing American songs, like last night at dinner Federica repeated 'i kissed a girl and i liked it' over and over again and Caterina and Julia were both singing American Boy non-stop... but don't even get me started about High school Musical.

Hi Han

so good to hear what you ae doing...must be amazing to be in such old places - your observation about what it is to live around such history every day is interesting....can only imagine.
So good to see your pics too.
I am wondering with all that pasts if you growing out of yr jeans? I's nice you are being fed and entertained by locals there - that's the bit you don't necessarilly get when you land in a big city and make your own travel plans.
CAn't wait till you make trad pizza for us back here!!! I bought you a Kenwood Patissier machine for you when you to cook with when you get back. It's red and retro looking - think you will like it alot, for all that cake making you do. Lu has just got home so gotta go pick up a kitten!!
Love you heaps

Hey Hannah, how you going?

Cool, the sights of Roma and its beauty and history sound awesome. It's nice you have people to show you around, even if it seems totally normal to them. Much better than just wandering around on your own like I did in Latin America! And I guess Sydney Harbour and the Opera House seem pretty normal and boring to us!

Yes you are definitely making me some authentic Italian pizza when you get back, and pasta too. Is it hard to get vegetarian food?

Isn't it funny how American culture is everywhere? You can go all over the world and here the same songs and people singing them in different accents.

I'm at Mary's house, they just got a new kitteh, you're going to love it! It's really tiny and it's kinda freaking out a bit, running around and pouncing at things that don't exist. It's name is Monty. It also came from a kind of Cat Sanctuary. Even I like it, so it must be cute.

Can't wait to see more pics! You could always upload them to Flicker or Picasso if you wanted to do heaps and heaps!

bye
